Sentence Combining Homework #1 (Outsiders)
Using conjunctions and clauses and suchlike to connect sentences, combine each of the following groups of short choppy sentences into a single, smooth-sounding sentence. Add or subtract words as you see fit; just make sure all the info is in each sentence.  Make sure you punctuate properly.    Combine each group of sentences in (at least) two different ways. More equals extra credit.
1a. Sodapop was stretched out.  1b. He was on the sofa.  1c. He was sound asleep.  1d. Darry was in the armchair.  1e. The chair was under the lamp.  1f. Darry was reading the newspaper.

2a. Mickey mouse was a buck-skin.  2b. He was dark-gold.  2c. He was sassy.  2d. He was ornery.  2e. He was not much more than a colt.
3a.The cinders began falling on us. 3b. The embers started falling on us.  3c.It stung.  3d. It smarted.  3e. It felt like ants.
4a. His eyes were blue.  4. His eyes were blazing.  4c. They were ice.  4d. They were cold.  4e. They hated the whole world.
5a. I leaped.  5b. It was out the window.  5c. I heard timber crashing.  5d. I heard the flames roaring.  5e. It was right behind me.
